The Ned

Case Study Overview

Project Name: The Ned

Project Type: Leisure

Products: Mesh Underfloor Heating, Thermostats

This stunning Grade I listed building was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and was once the former headquarters of Midland Bank. Following refurbishment, the building now a hotel, hosts a total of 9 restaurants, 252 bedrooms and oozes elegance throughout.

We proposed to provide electric underfloor heating in all bathrooms and en-suites of the hotel using the ThermoSphere Mesh 150W/m2 matting system. Part of the project stipulation was that the controls for the heating system had to be located away from the heated areas. As a manufacturer, this was not a problem for us. We were able to manufacture the cold tails to the 10m length that was required which benefited the
fitters on site as it allowed them to lay the mats and run the cold tail cables back to the services area without needing to adjust them. Ultimately saving significant time on-site.

Additionally, each mat and thermostat were individually boxed and labelled per floor and per room. This meant that when the goods were delivered to site, it was very straightforward to install in each bathroom. Now, that‘s excellence for you!
