The North Sea is one the world‘s most active offshore drilling regions with over 173 active rigs. This project was definitely one of the more unusual types of projects that you will find a ThermoSphere solution installed.

We were approached by a flooring contractor who was appointed as part of a wider project to refurbish the living and operational quarters of a North Sea platform. The brief was to provide a heating solution on a fireproof aluminium deck. The was to reduce the potential slip risk caused by spillages and the surrounding environment.

Following our assessment of the purpose built structure and the fireproof resin floor finish that would be used, we proposed the self-adhesive ThermoSphere Mesh at an output of 200W for a faster heat up time. This meant that the floor would heat up quicker and ensured that the slip risk was reduced throughout whilst keeping any height build-up to a minimum.
